Netflix to disable password sharing from 2023
Updated on:

Netflix, the streaming giant, has announced that come 2023, the platform will be ending its password-sharing ability.

It is to be noted that Netflix had taken a big hit during the Covid-19 pandemic, after its subscribers count took a deep plunge in the first quarter of 2022. As a result, Netflix has been working on steps to increase its subscribers and disabling the password sharing has been one of the suggestions. As per Collider, Netflix will be coming up with a system that will disable users from outside their homes, unless they pay to do so.

As the plan is already under a test run in Latin American countries, the new step will have features like login pages with validation codes. However, it is also unclear how much Netflix will charge for shared accounts.

While one has to wait and watch if the new plan will help the Netflix increase its count, this year the platform garnered high viewership with its shows like Wednesday and Stranger Things.
