HBO released the first visual look at their live-action series adaptation of the video game series The Last of Us. The scenes from the show were attached to promos from other HBO shows as well, the clips used were from shows like The Idol, Love and Death, Succession, The White Lotus, And Just Like That, Hacks, The White House Plumbers, and Our Flag Means Death.
The Last of Us is a post-apocalyptic show where we follow a smuggler named Joel (Pedro Pascal) escorting a teenager named Ellie (Bella Ramsey) across the crumbling United States. The show is developed by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann for HBO. Craig Mazin rose to fame with the 2019 HBO miniseries Chernobyl, which fictionalised the harrowing real-life events of the 1986 Chernobyl disaster.
The sneak peek of the show also showed us Nick Offerman’s look and also revealed scenes that were similar to sequences from the first game. This will be the first live-action adaption of the widely successful action-adventure video game franchise. It was earlier reported in 2014 that Sam Raimi is making a feature-length adaptation of the game with Neil Druckmann as a writer but the project was shelved, following Sony Entertainment’s disagreement with Druckmann.
Although an official release date has not been confirmed yet, The Last of Us TV show is expected to release next year.
