Netflix releases two-part bonus episode for The Sandman

Earlier today, Netflix released a two-part bonus episode for their recently released fantasy series The Sandman. The ten-episode series, which premiered on 5 August, received a bonus episode today. The author of the original graphic novel Neil Gaiman teased the arrival of the bonus episode with a tweet that said “It would be nice if there were more than just the ten episodes of Sandman in Season 1.”

The bonus episode shows us two stories, one involves a cat that dreams of a better world and another shows a desperate writer looking for inspiration, both of them are visited by the lord of dreams, Morpheus. The animated episode titled A Dream Of A Thousand Cats is directed by Hisko Hulsing while the live-action episode titled Calliope is directed by Louise Hooper. James McAvoy, Sandra Oh, and David Tennant have lent their voices for the animated episode.

The Sandman tells the story of Morpheus, the lord of dreams, who finds his kingdom of dreams in shambles after being in captivity for over a century. The show stars Tom Sturridge as Morpheus while Boyd Holbrook plays a rogue called Corinthian. The rest of the cast includes Vivienne Acheampong, Patton Oswalt, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Gwendoline Christie, Jenna Coleman, and David Thewlis.
