The cast of Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer is getting bigger with each day. The newest addition to the film is Robert Downey Jr. and Matt Damon.

Previously, it was reported that Emily Blunt was also in talks to join the film as Katherine Vissering Oppenheimer, wife of J Robert Oppenheimer, the scientist in charge of the Manhattan Project that led to the invention of the atomic bomb- which is also the basic plot of the film. Robert Oppenheimer will be played by Blunt's A Quiet Place 2 co-star Cillian Murphy.

Though Damon has previously worked with Nolan in the sci-fi drama Interstellar, this will mark the first collaboration of Downey Jr. with the veteran director.

Matt Damon, who was last seen in Ridley Scott's The Last Duel, has Thor: Love and Thunder in the pipeline. While, Downey Jr.'s last on-screen appearance was in Dolittle.

Oppenheimer is being adapted from the Pulitzer Prize-winning book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer written by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin. The film is being handled by a who's who of Nolan regular collaborators like producers Emma Thomas and Charles Roven, director of photography Hoyte Van Hotema, editor Jennifer Lame, and composer Ludwig Göransson. The film will mark Nolan's first movie for Universal.

Oppenheimer is scheduled to hit the screens on July 21, 2023.
