The Batman Japanese trailer leaves fans divided over Joker vs Riddler as the antagonist

The Batman Japanese trailer went viral on Twitter on December 13. This video featured new footage of the film starring Robert Pattinson in the titular role. Fans got something new to discuss and dissect, as they analysed the new version of the trailer. 

For instance, many believed that the trailer did tease a Joker appearance. However, it must be noted that director Matt Reeves has confirmed that he wanted to leave Joker out of this iteration of the Batman series because he wanted to shed some light on other villains.

The trailer introduced Riddler as an antagonist. So the question of Joker making an appearance in the film is at this point is just a fan theory based on certain easter eggs in the trailer. Originally, Riddler is a villain whose purpose was to prove that he was smarter than Batman. Some of the ways he tried to prove his intelligence was by continually trying to create puzzles and riddles. The video also indicated that the upcoming DC movie would feature the Court of Owls.

It is a group of rich, famous, and influential individuals from Gotham who have created a secret society to aid organized crime. Originally, Riddler was a villain whose purpose was to prove that he was smarter than Batman. Some of the ways he tried to prove his intelligence was by continually trying to create puzzles and riddles. It has also been speculated that Riddler might know Batman's real identity.

The trailer also revealed that the film was scheduled to be released on March 3, 2022, in Japan. The Batman stars Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Peter Sarsgaard, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell in addition to Pattinson. The film is adapted by Matt Reeves and Peter Craig.
