Actor Daniel Augustin has been roped in for a recurring role in Hulu's upcoming How I Met Your Mother spin-off series How I Met Your Father.

The actor replaces actor Brandon Micheal Hall, who has to exit the project due to a scheduling conflict when the filming dates for the series were shifted.

Created and written by Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, How I Met Your Father is set in the near future and will have Sophie (Hilary Duff) telling her son the story of how she met his father: a story that catapults us back to the year 2021 where Sophie and her close-knit group of friends are in the midst of figuring out who they are, what they want out of life, and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and limitless options.

Augustin will play Ian, a handsome, smart, and funny Tinder match of Sophie's who finally meets her in person for the first time.

This Is Us co-showrunners and Love, Victor co-creators Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger are attached to serve as writers and executive producers. How I Met Your Mother creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas are also on board as executive producers. Duff will produce the series, with Adam Londy serving as co-executive producer. 20th Television, the producer of the original, is also producing the new series.

Augustin is currently shooting a recurring role on the HBO series Rap Sh*t. His recent credits include David Makes Man, Grey’s Anatomy, Dynasty, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, and The Resident.
