It was previously reported that a Yellowstone prequel series titled 1883 is in development with actors Sam Elliott, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill attached to star. The production of the series started yesterday in Fort Worth, Texas, and the series has added actors Isabel May and LaMonica Garrett to its cast.

The series will follow the Dutton family who set out on a journey west through the Great Plains toward the last bastion of untamed America. The series is a stark retelling of Western expansion, and an intense study of one family fleeing poverty to seek a better future in America’s promised land — Montana.

Isabel May will play Elsa, the eldest daughter of John and Margaret Dutton (played by McGraw and Hill). Through her eyes will come much of the perspective of the family’s struggle when they leave Texas on a wagon train caravan towards a better life in Montana. Garrett will play the right hand of Pinkerton agent Shea Brennan (Elliott), who has to carry the immense sadness from his past, he has to shoulder the herculean task of guiding a group from Texas to Montana.

Taylor Sheridan, who wrote the episodes of season 1, is directing the pilot.

1883 is produced by 101 Studios and Bosque Ranch Productions. The series is executive produced by Taylor Sheridan, John Linson, Art Linson, David Glasser, Ron Burkle and Bob Yari.

Meanwhile, the fourth season of Yellowstone is set for a premiere in November this year.

May, who made her debut with Netflix's Alexa and Katie, recently starred in Run Hide Fight. She also plays the recurring role of Veronica in Young Sheldon.

Garrett was recently set to star opposite Chris Pratt in Amazon's conspiracy thriller The Terminal List. He also recently appeared in the drama series Delilah.
