Actor-director Greta Gerwig, whose latest film Barbie is currently running in theatres, opened up about helming two installments of the Narnia franchise.
The director revealed that she is yet to start working on the projects. Speaking to Inside Total Film podcast, Greta conveyed her hesitance and faith if her version of Narnia will capture the essence of the books. The Narnia franchise was authored by CS Lewis and revolved around four siblings who discover the magical land of Narnia by entering an abandoned wardrobe.
"I haven't even really started wrapping my arms around it. But I'm properly scared of it, which feels like a good place to start. I think when I'm scared, it's always a good sign. Maybe when I stop being scared, it'll be like, 'Okay. Maybe I shouldn't do that one.' No, I'm terrified of it. It's extraordinary. And so we'll see, I don't know,” Greta said. The filmmaker also said how she hopes to work in different kinds of films.
Meanwhile, Greta’s Barbie has been getting positive response. The film, which takes inspiration from the Mattel’s iconic doll, features Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling as Barbie and Ken. The absurdist fantasy comedy released alongside Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer.
