Bhumika signs YSR biopic

Actor Bhumika Chawla Thakur has been roped in to play YS Sharmila’s role in Yatra, a biopic on late Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy. Directed by Mahi V Raghav of Anando Brahma fame, the film will focus on the famous 1,400-km padayatra undertaken by YSR in 2003.

Yatra will see Malayalam superstar Mammootty playing YSR’s role, while Ashrita Vemuganti, who played Anushka’s sister-in-law in Baahubali: The Conclusion, plays YS Vijayamma’s role.

According to a source, the makers are also trying to cast Kollywood actor Suriya for YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s role. Produced by Vijay Chilla and Shashi Devireddy, the film’s shooting is currently underway at a brisk pace and efforts are on to release it for Dasara.
