Ed Sheeran to act in Danny Boyle's musical comedy?

Popular musician Ed Sheeran gradually took the plunge into acting by playing cameo roles in films and TV series like Bridget Jones's Baby and Game of Thrones. Now, it is said that the musician will be playing the lead role in an upcoming musical comedy directed by Danny Boyle. Though several sources mention his acting role, there has been no word about his musical contributions to the film. 

The plot of the film is being kept highly confidential by the makers, and Lily James of Baby Driver fame is slated to play a crucial role alongside Himesh Patel and Kate McKinnon. The musical comedy will be bankrolled by Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner, along with Matthew James Wilkinson and Bernie Bellew. 

Danny Boyle has been in the news recently for directing the next instalment of the James Bond franchise. The director is currently writing the script of this film, tentatively titled Bond 25, along with John Hodge. To everyone's surprise, the director is expected to work on this musical project before helming the sequel to the 2015's Spectre.
