I am beautiful, intelligent and a good perfomer: Kavya Gowda

Kavya Gowda's entry into the limelight happened by accident. The actor tells us she was actually accompanying a friend to a reality show, just happened to audition and ended up getting selected. Otherwise, the debutante says, she would have been an athlete at the National level. After establishing herself on small screen, Kavya takes her plunge into silver screen with Buckaasuura.

"Entering the film industry was just by luck, and something that never crossed my mind," says Kavya Gowda. "The injury on my left leg took a toll on my sports career and I had to stop running. It was while I was doing my MBA that I got an offer to be part of a TV Series. Navaneeth, the director of Buckaasuura, felt I had talent, would perfectly fit the role and took me on board," she tells us.

Her dream was to be a sports person, but she ended up entering tinsel town. "This is how my life has always been. I never get what I wish for, and instead, always get something I don't expect. It has turned out good for me though, in terms of name, fame and money," says Kavya, who has decided to grab every opportunity. She says it will be a proud moment for her, the day people address her parents with her name, "because it is their encouragement that has brought me till here."

Kavya, face of almost 200 commercials, has worked with top south Indian actors like Kamal Haasan, Nagarajuna and Mammootty. Having worked in the small screen made it easier for her to face the camera for a film. "When it comes to serials, we do at least 19 to 20 scenes per day, whereas in films, we at the most do two to three scenes. This makes dialogue delivery easier and there is scope for improvisation, too," she says, adding that though TV series help an actor become a household name, an opportunity to star in films is still a big deal.

Buckaasuura is a suspense thriller, and Kavya is paired opposite the lead actor, Rohit. She plays a laywer in the film. "I was so excited to play a lawyer. I even went to meet some lawyers at Majestic to better understand the character. But our director said it wasn't necessary. He just wanted us to follow his direction. As lawyer Amrutha, I am the soul of the story, but I don't argue much."

So what about her has caught the fancy of filmmakers? Kavya has a whole list. "I am beautiful, intelligent, a good performer and dedicated. I believe these are the qualities that filmmakers find in me," she says confidently.

Even though it's raining offers -- TV serials and films -- Kavya wants to wait for April 27 before she makes her next move. "It all depends on the feedback I get from my first film. That'll help me decide what comes next," she signs off.
