Hasmukh trailer out: Vir Das puts on a happy face in new Netflix thriller

Is it just us…. or has Vir Das just turned desi Joker on a kill streak? So suggests the trailer for Hasmukh, a new Netflix series set to stream on April 17. In the show, Vir essays a rural man who is a stand-up comic by day and a serial killer by night.

“Every artist has a viagra,” says Ranvir Shorey as his agent, which, in Hasmukh’s case, is his deep desire to kill. He reaches Mumbai with Shorey’s help, and, while performing on a popular comedy show, starts piling bodies across the city. As he’s brought out on television, will Hasmukh put on a happy face?

Hasmukh is written by Vir and co-produced by Nikkhil Advani. This is Vir’s debut series production under his comedy banner Weirdass.

Sharing the trailer for Hasmukh, Nikkhil noted in a statement, “In current times, flashy, even pompous announcements and promotional campaigns of new films and shows seem like a distant past. Somewhere, as a filmmaker, I feel relieved from the noisy pressure of this. But it doesn’t escape me at what price this reset comes. As earnestly as we can, my team and I wish you good health and safety in these times. Let that be the only priority. And in those moments, when you have the good fortune to slip away into the world of fiction we weave, do give a chance to a pretty unique show we are proud to bring to Netflix.”
