Chiranjeevi slams Mansoor Ali Khan for his comments on Trisha, calls it disgusting
Several film personalities from across the country took to their X handles to support Trisha after Mansoor Ali Khan made misogynistic and derogatory statements about the actor
Megastar Chiranjeevi has supported Trisha, slamming actor Mansoor Ali Khan’s comments calling him and his derogatory comments ‘disgusting’.
Taking to his X handle, Chiranjeevi on Tuesday wrote: “My attention was drawn to some reprehensible comments made by actor Mansoor Ali Khan about Trisha.”
The actor added: “The comments are distasteful and disgusting not just for an artiste but for any woman or girl. These comments must be condemned in the strongest words. They reek of perversion.”
Concluding his statement, Chiranjeevi wrote: “I stand with Trisha and every woman who has to be subject to such horrid comments.”
Not just Chiranjeevi, several film personalities from across the country took to their X handles to support Trisha after Mansoor Ali Khan made misogynistic and derogatory statements about the Ponniyin Selvan actor.
In a widely circulated video, Mansoor spoke about the changing times and how he wasn't getting characters that allowed him to misbehave with characters played by these actors. “They do not allow us to rape (in recent films). When I came to know that I would be acting with Trisha, I thought there would be some bedroom scenes. I have shot many such scenes with the likes of Khushbu and Roja in my earlier films," said Mansoor.
Trisha took to her social media accounts on Saturday, November 18, to register her anger about the comments by Mansoor. She condemned his statements and said it was sexist, disrespectful, misogynistic, repulsive, and made in bad taste. "He can keep wishing but I am grateful never to have shared screen space with someone as pathetic as him and I will make sure it never happens for the rest of my film career as well. People like him bring a bad name to mankind,” she added.
Following the outrage, the National Commission for Women said they are taking suo motu cognizance in this matter directing the DGP to invoke IPC Section 509 B and other relevant laws. "Such remarks normalize violence against women and must be condemned," they added.
