Rashmika Mandanna opens up about getting morphed in a deepfake video

Amitabh Bachchan shared a tweet that advocated for stronger cyber laws against deep fake videos

Rashmika Mandanna, who is currently awaiting the release of her film Animal, has recently been the victim of a deepfake video. Her Goodbye co-star Amitabh Bachchan has also shared his views on the need for stronger legislation against this particular kind of cybercrime when the video began to make the rounds on social media.

On Monday afternoon, Rashmika spoke about the incident on her social media. The Pushpa actor wrote, "I feel really hurt to share this and have to talk about the deepfake video of me being spread online. Something like this is honestly, extremely scary not only for me but also for each one of us who today is vulnerable to so much harm because of how technology is being misused."

Expressing gratitude towards her loved ones for making her feel better, Rashmika continues, "Today, as a woman and as an actor, I am thankful for my family, friends and well-wishers who are my protection and support system. But if this happened to me when I was in school or college, I genuinely can’t imagine how could I ever tackle this. We need to address this as a community and with urgency before more of us are affected by such identity theft."

In addition to Animal, Rashmika has the Tamil-Telugu bilingual Rainbow, Pushpa: The Rule and the Rahul Ravindran directorial The Girlfriend in the pipeline.
