Rashmika Mandanna's next titled Rainbow 

Actor Rashmika Mandanna is set to star in an upcoming Telugu-Tamil film titled Rainbow backed by Dream Warrior Pictures, the makers announced on Monday. 

The film is helmed by debutant Shantharuban with actor Dev Mohan playing a vital role.

Speaking to CE, Shantharuban said, "At heart, it will be a romantic fantasy. I would not be able to reveal much, at this time, but the story will be set against the backdrop of Ooty. The story will primary revolve around these two characters. I got the idea of the film back in 2017 and developed it. Thankfully it worked out and gave me a canvas to mount this feature film.”

The director also mentioned how the team felt it will be an interesting choice to cast Rashmika, who has never done a female-led script so far and that Rainbow will offer her character that she has never played before. “She has a lot of potential to portray this performance-oriented role.”

The film will go on floors from Friday, with the first schedule expected to last for 20-25 days. Shantharuban also said that the film will have Telugu artists as supporting cast.

With Justin scoring the music, the director promises that Rainbow will be music heavy. “Not just songs, but most of the scenes will be treated musically. As of now we have planned for 4-5 songs,” he added.

The technical crew of the film consists of  KM Bhaskaran as the cinematographer and Banglan as production designer.

Rashmika said, “For the first time I am playing as the protagonist where the story is shot in the girls perspective. I am so so excited to bring this character alive for all of you. Rainbow is definitely such a movie that will both entertain and excite you.. the journey of the audience with the girl is going to be a crazy ride so bucket up all, this is going to be a fun ride.”

Rainbow will go on floors from Friday, with the first schedule expected to last for 20-25 days. A  release date is yet to be planned.
