Samantha's upcoming mythological drama, Shaakuntalam, is set to hit the screens on November 4. Sharing the release update of the Gunasekhar directorial, Samantha wrote, "November fourth it is. Thank you for the love. You have always been my strength. #Shaakuntalam"

This comes as a welcome surprise for fans who were asking for updates about the film for the past few months. In fact, Shaakuntalam's producer Neelima Guna had to clarify earlier this year that the film was indeed progressing at a brisk pace, and the CG work was getting delayed due to the team striving for perfection.

The film, which is based on the popular play Abhijnana Shakuntalam by Kalidasa, has Samantha playing the titular role and Dev Mohan playing Dushyanta. Shaakuntalam also has Mohan Babu as Durvasa Maharishi, and features Aditi Balan and Allu Arha in supporting roles.

With music by Mani Sharma, Shaakuntalam will be released in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi and Malayalam.
