Actor Krishna in critical state, put on ventilator

Veteran Telugu actor and Mahesh Babu’s father Krishna was rushed to hospital after he complained of breathlessness, on Monday. The hospital has now released the health bulletin of the actor, which states that the actor is in a critical state and has been put on a ventilator.

Krishna is currently being treated at the Continental Hospital in Gachibowli, Hyderabad.

"Krishna was brought to the hospital at 1:15 am in an unconscious state due to cardiac arrest. The doctors resuscitated him within 20 minutes of performing CPR. He is battling multi-organ dysfunction and has been put on dialysis due to a kidney infection. He was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and was put on ventilator support for better treatment. His condition remains extremely critical and we cannot say anything till the next 24-48 hours," said Dr Guru N Reddy, Chairman and Managing Director of Continental Hospitals.

It is to be noted that Mahesh Babu has been having a rough year, after his mother and Krishna’s wife Indira Devi passed away in September. In January, the family lost their elder son Ramesh Babu.

Having acted in more than 350 films, Krishna was conferred with Padma Bhushan in 2009 for his contributions to Indian cinema. Popularly referred to as a 'superstar', he was elected as MP on behalf of the Congress party in 1989.

Meanwhile, fans of Krishna offered prayers at various temples across the Telugu States on Monday, invoking the blessings of the Almighty for speedy recovery of their favorite actor.
