City Civil Court suspends screening of Dr Rajsaekhar's Shekar

The City Civil Court of Hyderabad has suspended the screening of Dr Rajasekhar's latest release Shekar until further notice. The decision to stall the screening was taken after a financier named Parandhama Reddy filed a case accusing Jeevitha Rajasekhar, the director of Shekar, of failing to repay a loan of Rs 65 lakh.

The court has directed Jeevitha to deposit Rs 65 lakh by Sunday evening failing which the total negative rights are attached. Reports have surfaced that Jeevitha did not respond to the court order and the film's screening was suspended abruptly.

Following the court order, Rajasekhar has alleged conspiracy behind suspending the exhibition of his film. In a statement, the PSV Garudavega actor said, "Shekar is everything for me and my family. We worked very hard to bring this film to the audience. Shekar was garnering such a great response, but today. Just out of spite, some people have conspired and stopped our film from screening."

He stated that cinema is more than his profession and Shekar is his hope. "Cinema is our life, this film especially was our hope. I've run out of things to say. I can only hope that this film will eventually get the visibility and appreciation that it truly deserves," he added.

Shekar, released last Friday, also features Athmiya Rajan, Muskaan Khubchandani and Shivani Rajasekhar in prominent roles. The film has opened to positive reviews from the audience and the critics alike. Shekar is being bankrolled by Pegasus Cinecorp in collaboration with Sudhakar Impex IPL, Tripura Creations and Taurus Cinecorp.
