We had earlier reported that Naga Chaitanya and Venkat Prabhu were collaborating on a Tamil-Telugu bilingual, which is titled Custody.

Now, the makers, Srinivasaa Chitturi's Srinivasaa Silver Screen, have announced the release date of the film. Custody, which comes with the tagline 'A Venkat Prabhu Hunt' is set to release in theatres on May 12, 2023.

Besides Naga Chaitanya, Custody also stars Arvind Swamy as the antagonist, with Krithi Shetty playing the female lead. The first direct Telugu film of Venkat Prabhu also features Sarath Kumar, Sampath, Priyamani, Premgi Amaren, Premi Vishwanath, Vennela Kishore, and others in pivotal roles. The team  recently shot some intense action sequences choreographed by Mahesh Mathew.

Naga Chaitanya, who was seen in a brief appearance in Gautham Vasudev Menon's Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya, is making his full-fledged Tamil debut with Custody. The music for the film will be composed by the father-son duo of Ilaiyaraaja and Yuvan Shankar Raja.

Custody, which has cinematography and editing by SR Kathir and Venkat Raajen, respectively, will be presented by Pavan Kumar.
