The news of veteran actor Chalapathi Rao's demise is a bitter pill to swallow for the Telugu film fraternity and movie buffs, who are just reeling out from the death of legendary actor Kaikala Satyanarayana on Friday.

Prominent names in Telugu cinema are pouring out their condolences through social media and official statements. Actor-politician Pawan Kalyan, in a statement, stated, "The passing of prominent actor Sri Chalapathi Rao is a tragedy. I will pray that his soul finds peace. Chalapathi Rao garu left a strong impression both as a villain and as a character artist. He bankrolled fine films as a producer. I express my condolences to his son, actor-director Ravi Babu and his family. The demise of senior actors, who have been representatives of Telugu cinema for an entire generation, is quite unfortunate."

Nandamuri Balakrishna said in a statement, “The sudden demise of Chalapathi Rao garu has severely disturbed me. He entertained the Telugu audience with his unique acting and produced good films as a producer. Today, Telugu cinema lost a great actor. Our family shares a strong bond with him. He acted in many films starring my father and played good roles in my films too. He is a part of our family. I pray to God that his soul rests in peace. Expressing my deepest condolences to his family.”

NTR Jr tweeted, “The Nandamuri family lost a member today. His death distressed me. He has been close to our family since the days of my grandfather and his death is a great loss to us.”

Actor Nandamuri Kalyanram wrote, "Chalapathi Rao babai is very dear to me as a person and to my family as well. His sudden demise has come as an absolute shocker for our whole family. Words cannot explain this loss. May his family be blessed with the strength to go through this pain."

Filmmaker Srinu Vaitla tweeted, “Sad to know that talented veteran actor and one of the nicest human beings, Chalapathi Rao garu is no more. He always kept the people around him happy with his jovial nature. Strength to his family.”
