Allu Arjun's Pushpa: The Rule goes on floors

Pushpa: The Rule, a sequel to director Sukumar and Allu Arjun's 2021 blockbuster Pushpa: The Rise, was launched in a low-key event in the city on Monday.

The muhurat was graced by Sukumar, producer Ravi Shankar, and the crew of the film.

Conspicuous by his absence was Allu Arjun, who jetted off to the USA to represent India at the annual India Day parade in New York on Sunday.

The production house has shared the news on Twitter and tagged members of the film, including lead actors Allu Arjun-Rashmika Mandanna, music composer Devi Sri Prasad and Sukumar.

"#PushpaTheRule starts off on an auspicious note with the Pooja Ceremony Filming begins soon BIGGER and GRANDER (sic)," tweeted Mythri Movie Makers.

The music sittings of Pushpa 2 were recently completed in Prague and the principal photography is expected to commence in September.

According to a source, every character who was there in the first part will be repeated in the sequel and we hear that the makers are also considering introducing a few key characters as well.

Grapevine is that Vijay Sethupathi, who missed out on the first part, has been approached to play a prominent role in the sequel.

The first part narrated the story of Pushpa Raj, a red sandalwood smuggling labourer, who rose through the ranks as the kingpin of the illegal trade.

Released on December 17 last year, Pushpa: The Rule emerged as the highest-grossing film in the career of Allu Arjun.
