The Telangana Film Chamber of Commerce (TFCC), on Friday, swung into action after it received discrepancies over the abnormal hike of ticket prices by several multiplex chains in the city.

This comes after leading multiplex chains -- Prasads and PVR Cinemas -- raised the ticket prices in Hyderabad by 50 per cent from Friday. 

Thanking the Telangana government for GO 120, which allowed the theatres and multiplex chains to raise the ticket prices substantially across the State, Sunil Narang, the president of TFCC said, "We have received many complaints about multiplexes fixing high prices for Arjuna Phalguna and other small-budget films. The producers, distributors, and exhibitors should tread cautiously with the government order. We urge the multiplex chains to cooperate with TFCC and fix the ticket prices anywhere between Rs 100-150 for a small film. The dynamic pricing is only applicable for big films until the third week of their release."

Narang also pointed out that several multiplexes are also squeezing the patrons with high prices on food and beverages. "TFCC will work towards regulating these prices and we will soon initiate a dialogue with the management of these multiplexes," he concluded.
