Tuck Jagadish producers issue statement on OTT release

The straight-to-streaming release of the upcoming Telugu film Tuck Jagadish has remained a matter of discussion over the past couple of weeks. With theatres across the Telugu-speaking states opening up, Tuck Jagadish was expected to hit screens in September, although rumours of the film's OTT release have been circulating across social media for some time. The film's lead actor, Nani, issued a statement on the film's release earlier last week and said that he will stand by the producers' decision.

Today, the makers have issued a statement, positing their standpoint. "The film was completed in December last year. We planned to release it for summer but the second wave of Covid made things difficult. Even after the second wave, things continued to be uncertain due to various issues not being under control. Moreover, it is not easy to safeguard content for so long in this digital era," read the statement.

The producers went on to add, "With a lot of ambiguity about when things will return to normal, we approached Nani garu and convinced him for a non-theatrical release since there was no other option left before us. He was disappointed and reluctant a lot initially as he was particular about theatrical release. But he later understood the situation and was gracious enough to accept considering the problems of the producers. We sincerely thank him for his gesture. And our director too understood our problems and accepted our request."

With the statement, Shine Screens, the production house behind the film, has cleared the uncertainty over the film's release. While they are yet to announce the streaming platform and the release date, the film is speculated to premiere on Amazon Prime Video in September.

Directed by Shiva Nirvana, Tuck Jagadish features a massive cast including Ritu Varma, Jagapathi Babu, Aishwarya Rajesh, Daniel Balaji, Nassar, Rao Ramesh, Rohini, and Naresh, to name a few. The film has music by Thaman S and cinematography by Prasad Murella.
