The much-awaited trailer of Udhayanidhi Stalin's social drama Nenjuku Needhi was released earlier today. Directed by Arunraja Kamaraj, the film is the official Tamil remake of the Hindi film Article 15.

The film's producers Zee Studios and Udhayanidhi's production house Red Giant Movies released the trailer on their Twitter handles.

The two-minute trailer starts with Mayilsamy's character, a police driver, asking this: "If everyone's equal, then who is the king?" Then we see a father explaining to his child how 'they' will only let them burn other bodies at the crematory and not be burnt. With more such sequences, the intense, intricately-cut trailer hints at an emotional, hard-hitting story that stands against the injustice faced by the Dalits in our society.

Nenjuku Needhi also stars Aari, Tanya Ravichandran, Shivani Rajashekar and Yamini Chander in pivotal roles. Suresh Chakravarthi, Ilavarasan, Mayilsamy, Abdool Lee and Ratsasan Saravanan are also part of the cast.

The film has cinematography by Dinesh Krishnan B, editing by Ruben, and music by Dhibu Ninan Thomas.

Produced by Zee Studios and Boney Kapoor's Bayview Projects in association with Romeo Pictures, Nenjuku Needhi will release in theatres on May 20.

Notably, Article 15, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and directed by Anubhav Sinha, was released in 2019 to critical acclaim.
