Moopilla Thamizhe Thaaye, an independent single track by AR Rahman was released earlier today. The single was produced and released by the music legend's own independent music label Maajja.

The song has vocals by Saindhavi Prakash, Khatija Rahman, AR Ameen, Amina Rafiq, Gabriella Sellus and Poovaiyar, additional vocals by Rakshita Suresh, Niranjana Ramanan, Aparna Harikumar and Nakul Abhyankar, and lyrics written by Thamarai. Amith Krishnan has directed the music video of the song.

Moopilla Thamizhe Thaaye is an uplifting, melodious ode to mother Tamil, one of the oldest languages in the world. Thamarai's lyrics celebrate the Tamil culture of yore and the accomplishments across different fields by Tamil folk around the world today. The song exhorts the younger generation to connect with their roots and carry forward Tamil culture and tradition.

"It’s a song that I hope will excite and inspire all generations, and implore people to look at Tamil culture and history with pride," said Rahman in a statement.

The song was showcased at Rahman’s concert at Dubai Expo on March 24.

Maajja is the brainchild of a trio of Canadian entrepreneurs – Noel Kirthiraj, Sen Sachi and Prasana Balachandran – along with Rahman. Notably, last year, Maajja had released Enjoy Enjaami, from singer, rapper, and lyricist Arivu and singer Dhee. The song soon became an international sensation.

On the work front, Rahman has Cobra, Iravin Nizhal, Ponniyin Selvan, Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu, Pathu Thala, and Aylaan coming up.
