Karthik Subbaraj promises a mix of action and cinema in Jigarthanda DoubleX, watch teaser here

As reported earlier, Karthik Subbaraj’s critically acclaimed gangster drama Jigarthanda is getting a sequel titled Jigarthanda Double X. The makers have introduced its lead cast by releasing an intriguing teaser. It features SJ Suryah and Raghava Lawrence as the two principal characters. In the teaser, SJ Suryah is seen in a retro look wearing a suit and playing harmonica, while Raghava Lawrence is introduced as a rugged, smuggler (notice the elephant tusks in the background). Towards the end, we see an army of armed men, which includes both policemen and convicts, running towards Lawrence. He suddenly takes out a camera from the ground and points at them like a gun. It hints that the film will be a mix of action and cinema, just like the first part, which starred Bobby Simha and Siddharth.

Jigarthanda Double X has music by Santhosh Narayanan, whose work in the original is still popular among the masses. S S Thirunavukarasu, who collaborated with Karthik Subbaraj in Mercury and Petta, has been retained as the cinematographer and Shafique Mohamed Ali is the editor. The film, backed by Kaarthekeyen Santhanam and Kathiresan.

SJ Suryah, last seen in the Prime Video series Vadhandhi, has Bommai, Mark Antony and RC 15 coming up. Meanwhile, Raghava Lawrence has Rudhran, Adhigaram and Chandramukhi 2 in different stages of production.
