Veteran actors and long time friends Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan are set to reunite onscreen after three decades for the upcoming Tamil film tentatively titled Thalaivar 170. While Rajinikanth had earlier taken to social media to share his happiness on working with Bachchan, the latter said it was a "huge privilege" working with him.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Bachchan wrote, “ Back with the great THALAIVAR .. the Leader, the Head, the CHIEF .. Rajinikanth on his 170th film .. what an honour and a huge privilege  .. after 33 years .. !! and you haven't changed a bit .. still the GREATEST  Thalaivar 170.”

He also replied to Rajinikanth’s post and said, “You are too gracious to me , but just see the Title of the Film , its THALAIVAR 170 ..Thalaivar means Leader, Head, Chief .. You are the head, the Leader and the Chief.. ANY DOUBT people .. ?? I cannot compare myself with you! My great honour to be working with you again.. !!”

Thalaivar 170 will mark Bachchan’s Tamil debut. It is to be noted that in their long-standing friendship, Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan have shared screen space in a number of films. Their last film together was the 1991 Hindi film Hum.

The upcoming film is helmed by TJ Gnanavel and backed by Lyca Productions. The film also stars Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Dushara Vijayan, Ritika Singh, among others.
