Actor Mansoor Ali Khan's misogynistic and distasteful comments on actor Trisha have taken the internet by storm. Following Trisha calling out Mansoor Ali Khan on her social media handles, a handful of film fraternity members expressed solidarity with the actor, bashing Mansoor's crass comments.
In a video circulated on social media, Mansoor Ali Khan is seen saying about acting as an antagonist in films, "They do not allow us to rape. I had wanted to tell at the time of Leo but did not. When I came to know that I would be acting with Trisha, I thought there would be some bedroom scenes, and I could throw her on the bed. How many films I have shot with those scenes." The actor also said that he did not even have the chance to interact with her.
Director Lokesh Kanagaraj, whose film Leo last featured Trisha and Mansoor, condemned the latter's derogatory comment and wrote in his X handle, " Disheartened and enraged to hear the misogynistic comments made by Mr.Mansoor Ali Khan, given that we all worked in the same team. Respect for women, fellow artists and professionals should be a non-negotiable in any industry, and I absolutely condemn this behaviour."
Filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj, who earlier directed Trisha in Petta, penned, "Disgusting MEN kind he is. Shame on you, Mansoor Ali Khan." (sic).
Actor Malavaika Mohanan condemned Mansoor's comments as "despicable beyond belief". She added, "This is disgusting on so many levels. It’s shameful enough that this is how this man views women & thinks about them, but then to have the guts(!!) to speak about it this openly & unapologetically, not even worried about repercussions?? Shame on you. Despicable beyond belief". (sic)
Music composer and singer Amaal Mallik expressed his support for Trisha and praised her for her bravery in standing up for herself, " Terrible to see this. What a pathetic statement to make towards any woman especially with regard to a topic like rape. Totally Unacceptable. @trishtrashers, you’re a legend & I’m glad you are giving it back; something very important to do so that people like #MansoorAliKhan don’t make such insensitive comments ever again !!!!!! (sic).
Singer and Dubbing artist Chinmayi Sripaada, who has been vocal about the atrocities women face in the film industry, put out a note on her X handle condemning the comments about Trisha and also mentioned a few other instances where Male actors made vile and unpleasant comments.
Actor Shanthnu criticised Mansoor's comments as "Totally unacceptable" and wrote, "No respect for a man who thinks of “passing comments on women” as a joke. The audacity he has to say something on such low terms shows the space we as a society give some people. Totally unacceptable." (sic).
In support of Trisha, actor and politician Khushbu Sundar noted that action would be taken against Mansoor Ali Khan, and she also mentioned that "nobody can get away with such a filthy mind". In the video snipped that went viral on social media, Mansoor also mentioned Khushbu and actor Roja in a derogatory manner. Specifying that Khushbu added, "I stand with @trishtrashers and my other colleagues where this man speaks in such a sexist, disgusting mindset about them, including me. When we are fighting tooth & nail to protect women & bring dignity to them, such men are like a bot in our society."
