Two months after the release of director Dayal Padmanabhan's debut film, Kondraal Paavam, he is gearing up for the release of his sophomore film Maruthi Nagar Police Station. While the film will premiere on Aha on Friday, the makers organised a press meet and trailer launch event on Monday. The upcoming film stars Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Arav, Santhosh Pratap, and Mahat Raghavendra.
Speaking about the back-to-back releases, the National Award-winning director said, "Filmmakers, after making their debut, take at least a 6-month break to come up with their next film. I decided not to take this break. I planned this out clearly, and filmed Maruthi Nagar Police Station immediately after Kondraal Paavam."
Noting that both Kondraal Paavam and Maruthi Nagar Police Station were in the post-production phase simultaneously, the director decided to opt for the theatrical release first with the former as the latter was an OTT original. "I wanted my first film to have a theatrical release. And since Maruthi Nagar Police Station was an Aha Original, I decided to release Kondraal Pavam as my debut film," he said, adding that the upcoming film will be a novel cop story with a lot of twists and turns.
Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, one of the lead actors of Maruthi Nagar Police Station, hailed Dayal as a content-driven filmmaker and that Kondraal Pavam is a perfect example. "Even if the film is small, the content is given a lot of prominence."
While in recent times, many films stirred controversies, Varalaxmi clarifies that Maruthi Nagar Police Station does not deal with any controversial topics. "I request the audience to please support our simple film."
Meanwhile, Arav shared that this film was the fastest he has ever worked on. "The shoot for the film was scheduled just 1 week after Dayal narrated the story to us. And in 21 days, we wrapped the shooting."
Backed by Dayal Padmanabhan's D PICTURES banner, the film's technical crew includes cinematographer Shekhar Chandra, editor Preethi-Babu and music composer Manikanth Kadri.
