Harish Kalyan and Attakathi Dinesh to star in Lubber Pandhu

Lubber Pandhu is the title of the upcoming film starring Harish Kalyan and Attakathi Dinesh in the lead roles, the makers of the film announced on social media on Friday. This will be the first time Dinesh and Harish will be sharing the screen space.

Backed by S Lakshman Kumar under Prince Pictures banner, the upcoming film will be written and directed by Tamizharasan Pachamuthu, who has earlier assisted in Sigai, Kanaa and FIR. In addition to Harish and Dinesh, the film will also star Sanjana, who was last seen in Vadhandhi web series, and Bala Saravanan, Kaali Venkat, Swasika Vijay, among others.

While the details on the film are kept under wraps, from the title, it appears to be a cricket-based sports drama.

Tamizharasan Pachamuthu, who is making his directorial debut with the upcoming film, said to CE, “This film is based on cricket, but not like the international tournaments. It primarily revolves around street cricket that people usually play with rubber balls. It is all about people who have passion for cricket but need not necessarily aspire to be cricketers. The film will revolve around such characters. Lubber Pandhu will be a light-hearted, emotional, rural sports-based drama.”

The director added, “I was primarily one of those characters during my earlier days. I wanted to take something part of my life, for my debut feature.” Lubber Pandhu will go on floors from end of March and will be shot in one schedule. The location scouting is currently under progress.

The makers are looking for a theatrical release. “We are looking to create a cinematic experience. Every character has got its own arc. No matter even if the role is just a hero’s friend, does not mean the character will be one-dimensional. At the same time, no character is a pure soul too.

The film’s technical crew consists of Sean Roldan who composed the music, with Dinesh Purushothaman handling the cinematography and G Madan as the editor.
