Maamannan, the recently released Tamil film starring actors Vadivelu, Udhayanidhi Stalin, Fahadh Faasil and Keerthy Suresh in the lead roles, will premiere on Netflix on July 27, the streaming platform announced on social media.
Directed by Mari Selvaraj and music scored by AR Rahman, Maamannan is notably Udhayanidhi’s final film as an actor before he assigns himself to full-fledged political career.
The film will be available in Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada as well. The film's technical crew includes cinematographer Theni Eswar, editor RK Selva, and action choreographer Dhilip Subbarayan. The film is backed by Udhayanidhi’s Red Giant Movies.
Maamannan is set against the backdrop of Tamil Nadu’s Salem and concentrates on the political play between the oppressed and oppressor. The film features Vadivelu and Udhayanidhi as father and son, with Fahadh playing the antagonist. The film opened to mixed reviews, with Vadivelu winning applause for his performance. It is one of the few films that showcased the veteran comedian in a serious role.
