On Wednesday, director Vignesh Shivan took to Twitter to praise Mari Selvaraj's latest directorial Maamannan.
In Tamil, the Naanum Rowdy Dhaan director wrote, "Maamannan is yet another fantastic creation in the directorial journey of Mari Selvaraj. It would be the greatest honour to present actor Vadivelu with a National Award for Maamannan, paying a tribute to the wonderful performances he has given us all these years."
Further, praising the actor's performance, he wrote, "Although Vadivelu's acting meter had ups and downs, and there was the fear that he may evoke laughter, his performance has proved that he is one of the best actors in Cinema that this century has seen."
Vignesh Shivan also had a few words of appreciation for Udhayanidhi Stalin. He said, "This is the pinnacle in Udhay sir's film career. Despite being a political personality in real life, he has given the director full freedom to talk about his politics and supported the creation of this great work."
Replying to the tweet, Mari wrote, "My thanks and love to you my dear friend."
Apart from Udhayanidhi Stalin and Vadivelu as the lead, Maamannan stars Keerthy Suresh in a prominent role and Fahadh Faasil as the antagonist. The film's technical crew includes cinematographer Theni Eswar, editor RK Selva, and Action Choreographer Dhilip Subbarayan.
