Malavika Mohanan pens a note on Thangalaan

On Tuesday, Vikram announced that the shoot for Thangalaan has been wrapped after 118 days. Following the announcement, Malavika Mohanan who is a part of the film's cast, took to Instagram to share a photo with Director Pa Ranjith and Vikram and pen a note about the film.

She wrote, "A film that came my way in the most unexpected way at an unexpected time, a film that tested my physical, mental and emotional endurance in a way nothing ever has, a film where I got to collaborate with some of the most talented artists, not to mention some of my favourites. You have artistically spoilt me Pa Ranjith and Vikram, & the rest of the team, and set the bar too high. Who will match this now? It’s finally a film wrap and I’m going to wallow in existential crisis for a few days. If blood, sweat & tears was a film, this literally would be it."

Thangalaan is expected to showcase the story of the origins of the Kolar Gold Field of Karnataka. The film stars Vikram in the lead role with an ensemble cast including Parvathy Thiruvothu, Malavika Mohanan, Pasupathy, Daniel Caltagirone, and Hari Krishnan, among others.

Thangalaan is backed by Neelam Productions and Studio Green. The film has music by GV Prakash, marking his first collaboration with the filmmaker. Tamil Prabha is the film's co-writer, while Selva RK and SS Murthi will handle the editing and art departments, respectively.

The film also will release in Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. The post-theatrical rights of Thangalaan are bagged by Netflix. The film's release date is yet to get fixed.
