Subramaniapuram inspired me to make Gangs of Wasseypur, says Anurag Kashyap

Subramaniapuram, the critically acclaimed Tamil film, turned 15 years on Tuesday. The period actioner was produced, written, and directed by Sasikumar. Marking the occasion, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, took to his Twitter handle and wrote, "15 years to the film that inspired me so much that it led us to make Gangs of Wasseypur. Congratulations Sasi Kumar and team."
Subramaniapuram stars Jai, Sasikumar, Samuthirakani, Swathi and Ganja Karuppu, among others. The film opened to a positive response. It received critical acclaim for its performances and writing. It marked Sasikumar's directorial debut. Taking to his social media handle, Sasikumar wrote, “It’s like yesterday. 15 years of Subramaniapuram. The memories are still fresh. You all didn’t just approve of the film but celebrated it. On this remarkable day, I want to share the news with you all that I’m starting up my next directorial venture.”
