Countdown begins for Ponniyin Selvan 2: Just 100 days to witness the Cholas again

Soon after the stupendous success of Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan 1, the makers wasted no time in announcing the release date of the second and final instalment. Backed by Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies, the second part will hit the screens on April 28. 

In a rather interesting update, the makers released a short video kickstarting the countdown to the release of the second part. Through the video, it is reminded that Ponniyin Selvan 2 will be released 100 days from now. "The throne. The vengeance. The love.The war. Witness it all, in 100 days! Mark your calendars, PS2 is releasing worldwide on April 28," read the tweets on Lyca Productions' social media handles

Ponniyin Selvan 1 became the biggest hit of the year in Tamil cinema, and received plaudits for its take on author Kalki Krishnamurthy's beloved classic of the same name. Starring Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi and Aishwarya Rai in the lead, Ponniyin Selvan has music by AR Rahman, and is shot by Ravi Varman.
