Tamil film industry mourns the death of comedian Mayilsamy
In his statement, actor Sarath Kumar remarked that Mayilsamy was not only a comedian but also a philanthropist, a great human being and a good friend

Comedian Mayilsamy, who has acted along with all the leading stars in the Tamil film industry, passed away on Sunday morning. The 57-year-old succumbed to a cardiac arrest. Film personalities who worked with the artist and who have tremendous respect for his work mourned his demise.
In a tweet, actor Sarath Kumar expressed his grief over the comedian’s passing. He remarked that Mayilsamy was not only a comedian but also a philanthropist, a great human being and a good friend.

Actor and director Radhakrishnan Parthiban shared a condolence voice note on the sudden demise of the comedian. He shared that Mayilsamy, who was not educated, had a lot of concern for society, and with his demise, a little bit of humanity has left the world. "Mayilsamy was someone who would boldly speak his mind," he shared.
Comedian Manobala, a contemporary of Mayilsamy, shared a photo of the late actor on Twitter and captioned it with the words, "Kodumai Kodumai Kodumai." Actor Arya wrote on Twitter, "Disheartened to hear the news. RIP #Mayilsamy anna. Condolences to family and friends." Other actors such as Arun Vijay, Aishwarya Rajesh, Yogi Babu, etc. also conveyed their condolences.

Vikram took to Twitter to share a photo of the late comedian and wrote, "Your sweet funny ways will always be remembered, dear Mayil. RIP." Actor RJ Balaji, who worked with Mayilsamy in LGK wrote, "Mayilsamy Sir... This is too hard to believe. One of the nicest humans, who never bothered bout tomorrow and gave away everything that he could. He radiated so much love, kindness and happiness around. So many memories, Heartbreaking. He was like a family I'll miss you, sir." (sic)
It is to be noted that Mayilsamy has acted with all leading stars in the Tamil film industry. He first performed with Rajinikanth in Panakkaran (1990), after which he went on to do many films with the actor. Mayilsamy had a career spanning 39 years and 200 odd films. The comedian debuted in the film industry with Bhagyaraj's Dhavani Kanavugal in 1984.
Mayilsamy became a household name amongst Tamil audiences after 2000. His notable film credits include Dhool, Vaseegara, Ghilli, Giri, Uthamaputhiran, Veeram, and Kanchana, among many others. He won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Comedian for his performance in Kangalal Kaidhu Sei (2004).
