On Tuesday, the makers of August 16 1947 released character posters of Pugazh, Thillai Mani and others from the film. Directed by NS Ponkumar, the film is all set to hit theatres on April 7.
The new posters introduce David as Karikalan, Neelima Rani as Childhood Hero's mother, Bose Venkat as Pasupathi, and Kalaiyarasan as Kadaikaran. Previously, the makers revealed the characters of Pugazh, Thillai Mani, Tansen and TSR.

August 16 1947 borrows its title from the date that marks one day after India gained independence from the British colonial rulers. The film tells the tale of a remote village where one man battles British forces. Debutant Revathy Sharma is playing a lead role alongside Gautham Karthik.
