Surrogacy row: Nayanthara-Vignesh Shivan submit documents to inquiry committee

We earlier reported that the Tamil Nadu government had sought an explanation from celebrity couple Vignesh Shivan and Nayanthara regarding the surrogacy row. The latest reports suggest that the couple has submitted the necessary documents to the inquiry committee. On October 9, Vignesh Shivan and Nayanthara announced the arrival of their twin boys. While it was widely speculated that the babies were conceived through surrogacy, many questioned if the couple abided by all the regulations enforced by the Indian surrogacy laws.

It is now reported that both of them registered their marriage in 2016 and they signed the surrogacy contract in December 2021.  The couple is likely to be given a clean chit as the newly passed act would not affect them. And as only altruistic surrogacy is allowed, the reports note that the surrogate mother is reportedly Nayanthara's relative. However, the couple did not comment about the issue on the public forum.
