We had earlier reported that filmmaker AR Murugadoss will collaborate with Bollywood producer Om Prakash Bhatt to produce a pan-Indian film titled 1947 August 16 with Gautham Karthik in the lead. The first look of the period film, which is set to be directed by Murugadoss' longtime associate NS Ponkumar, was released earlier today.

The first look features Gautham Karthik leading a riot while a forest seems to be burning in the backdrop. As the title suggests, the events in the film occur a day after India's independence.

1947 August 16 has debutant Revathy playing the female lead. The film, which was shot at locations in Tamil Nadu, is currently in post-production.

The film is produced by AR Murugadoss, Om Prakash Bhatt and Narsiram Choudhary, and co-produced by Aditya Joshi. The film is produced by AR Murugadoss Productions, Purple Bull Entertainment, and God Bless Entertainment
