Actor Laila, known for films like Dheena, Nandha and Pithamagan, will be making her comeback to Tamil cinema with PS Mithran-Karthi's Sardar. Last seen as the female lead in Ajith Kumar's 2006 film Paramasivan, followed by a cameo in the same actor's Thirupathi, Sardar will mark her return to the big screen after a span of 16 years.

A still from the shooting spot, which made its way to social media, confirmed her presence in the film. The picture features the actor at a beachside locale. The makers are yet to come out with an official announcement on the addition of Laila.

Sardar, starring Raashi Khanna as the female lead, will feature Karthi in two roles - a father and his son. The rest of the film's cast includes Rajisha Vijayan, Yugi Sethu, Murali Sharma and Munishkanth. Produced by Prince Pictures, the film will have music by GV Prakash. Mithran's frequent collaborator George C Williams is in charge of Sardar's cinematography.
