Vikram, the action thriller starring actor-politician Kamal Haasan in the lead, will have its digital premiere on Disney Plus Hotstar on July 8.

The film hit the theatres on June 3 and fared well at the worldwide box office. Written and directed by Lokesh Kanakaraj, Vikram is produced by Kamal’s home banner Raaj Kamal Films International in association with R Mahendran. The film features an ensemble star cast including Vijay Sethupathi, Fahadh Faasil, Narain, Gayathrie, Kalidas Jayaram and Arjun Das, among others, in pivotal roles. Actor Suriya appears in a cameo role.

It may be noted that Vikram and Lokesh’s 2019 film, Kaithi, are interlinked and they exist in the same cinematic universe. The film’s title is borrowed from Kamal’s 1986 film, Vikram, a spy action film, directed by Rajashekar. Apart from the Kaithi connection, the film also has a common thread that links it to the 1986 Vikram. On the other hand, after Vishwaroopam 2 (2018), Vikram is Kamal’s first film to release in the theatres.
