The first look of Bharath and Janani starrer Munnarivaan, written and directed by debutant Vejayaraj, was unveiled yesterday (June 28) by a host of actors including Arya, Prasanna, actor-music directors Vijay Antony and GV Prakash Kumar.

The poster, featuring actor Bharath had the actor thinking about an event where one person is holding a blood-stained axe in one hand while carrying what appears to be a dead man on his shoulder.

Speaking about the story of the film, director Vejayaraj told Cinema Express, "The hero has a foreseeing ability. There are many events that happen around him. He intervenes in situations which are about to take place. What happens to him and how he overcomes the problems he faces forms the storyline."

Vejayaraj, who was an associate of director Karthik Subbaraj, noted that Munnarivaan was inspired by the Final Destination franchise. "We took a small knot from it and developed the script from there," he said.

Vejayaraj revealed that the psychological thriller, which went on floors last year, is nearing completion and will be wrapped up within 10-15 days. When asked about the release date of the project, he said, "The post production might take about three months. If all goes well, we are looking at releasing Munnarivaan by the end of this year."

In the film, Bharath plays a Chennai-based MBA Hotel Management graduate and Janani plays a doctor. "Both the characters meet and fall in love. When she gets to know the hero's issue, she remains supportive and helps him deal with it," he added.

The film is set fully in Chennai and is shot in and around the city. "There are a lot of road sequences in the film," Vejaraj said.

The cast also includes Mirchi Senthil, Kalaka Povadhu Yaaru-fame Azhar, and Mahalakshmi playing crucial characters. Actor Singampuli and Chinni Jayanth are also part of the film. Director and actor Karu Pazhaniappan is playing the role of a Deputy Commissioner of Police in the film.

While Ghibran is working on the music, Om Narayan is handling the cinematography. R Sakthi Saravanan is taking care of the stunts and I Jerome Alen will be in charge of editing. Munnarivaan is produced by Ravindhar Chandrasekaran under the banner Libra Productions.
