The teaser of Paayum Oli Nee Yenakku, the upcoming Tamil film starring actor Vikram Prabhu, in the lead role, was released by Karthi, on social media on Monday.

The film is written and directed by Karrthik Adwait. He is also producing the film.

Speaking about the upcoming film, Karrthik said, “It is an action thriller interlaced with family drama. The whole film is based on Vikram’s character, a common man and how he faces a problem that strikes his family. It is a Chennai-based story happening in the present time.”

The filmmaker, who has also written the script, says that he penned several versions before going on floors. “The idea of the film first came during the first lockdown time. It took about 8-9 months to get to the bound script and the version we shot was the sixth one,” he added.

Karrthik says that it went on floors before the second lockdown. It was wrapped up in the first half of 2021. The film was completely shot in live locations in Chennai, barring a 15-day schedule in Hyderabad’s Ramoji Film City, and a song in Puducherry.

Apart from Vikram Prabhu, Paayum Oli Nee Yenakku also features Dhananjaya, Vani Bhojan, Vivek Prasanna among others. “While Vani is not just a love interest of Vikram, but has her own part to play. Dhananjaya is not a conventional villain. He is the antagonist, but he has his own dignity and values. Whatever he does has a reason. One man’s right is another man’s wrong.

The film is in the final stages of post-production. The film has cinematography by Sridhar, Sagar on the music and Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao handling the edit.

Karrthik said that the team is planning for a theatrical release in August. The film will feature five songs.

On the production front Karrthik will be bankrolling a female-oriented Tamil-Telugu bilingual and Rathamum Sadhaiyum with Vikram Prabhu again. As a director, he is also working on a couple of scripts.
