Vijay's next film, which has so far been tentatively named Thalapathy 66, is now titled Varisu, the makers announced while releasing the first look poster of the film on social media on Tuesday. The announcement comes a day before the actor's birthday on Wednesday.

Vijay is seen dapper in a suited look in the poster. The film comes with the tagline, 'The Boss Returns'.

Billed as a family entertainer, Varisu is directed by Telugu filmmaker Vamshi Paidipally marking his maiden venture into the Tamil film industry. The film is backed by Dil Raju under Sri Venkateshwara Creations banner.

Besides Vijay, the film also features a host of known faces across Tamil and Telugu industries, including Rashmika Mandanna as the female lead, with Prakash Raj, Sarath Kumar, Sangeetha, Yogi Babu, Prabhu, Jayasudha, Srikanth and Shaam in prominent roles.

The film has music by Thaman S and cinematography by Kharthik Palani, while Praveen KL will be handling the editing department. The film is currently scheduled to release on Pongal 2023. The team of Varisu wrapped up with their first schedule of shooting in the last week of May.

Meanwhile, speculations are strong that after this film, Vijay will once again reunite with his Master director Lokesh Kanagaraj for Thalapathy67. However, the project has not yet been announced officially.
