Promo out for Ponniyin Selvan's first single

Ponniyin Selvan-I is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on 30 September 2022

The makers of Mani Ratnam’s long-awaited Ponniyin Selvan have released a glimpse into their first single titled Ponni Nadhi. Composed by AR Rahman, the song has vocals by the music director himself along with Ar Raihanah and Bamba Bakya. The Ponniyin Selvan team has planned a launch event for the single at the EA mall, to be attended by actor Jayam Ravi who plays Arunmozhi Varman in the film. The full song is expected to release shortly.

The promo shows us behind-the-scenes of the song's making, we could see AR Rahman and his frequent collaborator drums Sivamani recording the song at the studio. The lyrics for the song are penned by Ilango Krishnan. 

Subaskaran is producing the film under his Lyca Productions banner along with Mani Ratnam’s Madras Talkies. The film is an adaptation of Kalki’s novel of the same name which was first published in 1950. The fictional story is based on real characters from the Cholan dynasty and the politics that evolve out of a power struggle  

Poniyin Selvan-I is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on 30 September 2022. Directed by Mani Ratnam, The ensemble cast for the film includes Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Karthi, Vikram Prabhu, Sarathkumar, Nasser, and Vikram. The full song is expected to release shortly.
