Director Pa Ranjith released a making video for his boxing drama Sarpatta Parambarai to celebrate the first anniversary of its release. The film streamed on Amazon Prime Video last year and garnered positive reviews from the critics and public alike. It received praise for its faithful portrayal of the 1970s boxing culture predominant in North Madras.

The film stars Arya in the lead with Dushara Vijayan, Santhosh, John Kokken, Sanchana Natarajan, Shabeer Kallarakal, Anupama Kumar, G M Sundhar, Pasupathy, Kalaiyarasan, and John Vijay.

The making video shows a glimpse of the amount of gruelling work that went into recreating 1970s Chennai. Sarpatta Parambarai follows Arya’s character as he fights to defend the honour of the Sarpatta boxing clan.

The film is loosely based on real boxing clans that existed in Chennai and weaves the story around real political events that happened around that time. The film was released as an Amazon Prime Video exclusive, the makers have not released any updates regarding its theatrical premiere yet.
