Malayalam actor Aishwarya Lekshmi, who is one of the producers of Sai Pallavi's upcoming trilingual Gargi, broke down at the film's press meet today in Chennai. The film is directed by Gautham Ramachandran, who made his directorial debut with the Nivin Pauly-starrer Richie.

While addressing the media, Aishwarya turned emotional almost a couple of minutes into her speech. She began by saying that Gargi was a journey of three years, but soon broke down while getting into the details about the film and what it meant to her. Gautham Ramachandran and Sai Pallavi, who were on stage next to her, pitched in for her.

Explaining how Aishwarya had helped him and his film and why she was so emotional about it, Gautham disclosed that the Mayanaadhi actor was with him right from the first day he started the project. Apparently, the director was facing a severe fund crunch for the production of Gargi when Aishwarya, who had finished three films and saved her remuneration, handed out the entire sum to support him.

Aishwarya, who had regained her composure by then, resumed her speech. She said that she liked Gargi not only because of its excellent content but also because of the people involved. She also heaped praises on Sai Pallavi, saying, "Gargi is not Gargi if not for Sai Pallavi. As an actor, I look up to her. I cannot see any other actor do this role."

Gargi, made originally in Tamil, is being dubbed in Telugu and Kannada. The film is slated for release on July 15. Suriya's 2D Entertainment is presenting the Tamil version while Rakshit Shetty's Paramvah Studios will present the Kannada version.
