Karthi's look from Ponniyin Selvan out

The actor plays Vanthiyathevan, a fearless commander of the Chola army

With the makers of the upcoming historical drama Ponniyin Selvan (PS-1) kickstarting their promotions by releasing character posters, the team, on Tuesday, released the poster of actor Karthi, who is portraying the role of Vanthiyathevan.

Earlier, on Monday, the poster of Vikram as Aditya Karikalan was shared.

Karthi features as Vanthiyathevan, a fearless commander of the Chola army, who finds a prominent role in Kalki’s Ponniyin Selvan, on which the film is based on. In the poster, Karthi is seen riding a horse, suited in armor, as he looks sideways, smiling.

Ponniyin Selvan is a two-part film and the first installment is set to hit the theatres on September 30. Billed to be one of the biggest multi-starrers in Indian cinema, the historical drama features Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, and Jayam Ravi in the leads. The ensemble includes Vikram Prabhu, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Prabhu, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Lal, Sarath Kumar, Arjun Chidambaram, and Ashwin Kakamanu, apart from Vikram and Karthi.

Backed by Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions, the duology will have music by AR Rahman, and a screenplay by Mani Ratnam, Jeyamohan, and Kumaravel. With cinematography by Ravi Varman, Ponniyin Selvan has production design by Thota Tharani and editing by Sreekar Prasad.
