Actor Siddharth's tweet on famed badminton player Saina Nehwal has received huge backlash on Twitter. Days after his tweet on star badminton player Saina Nehwal's take on PM Narendra Modi's reported security breach, Siddharth has come out with a clarification. The actor tweeted that his comment on Saina shouldn't be taken out of context.

On the micro-blogging site, Saina Nehwal condemned the alleged security breach of PM Modi in Punjab. She wrote, "No nation can claim itself to be safe if the security of its own PM gets compromised. I condemn, in the strongest words possible, the cowardly attack on PM Modi by anarchists."

In reaction to her statement, Siddharth re-tweeted with a comment that led to backlash from several quarters. He wrote, "Subtle cock champion of the world. Thank God we have protectors of India. Shame on you #Rihanna (sic)."

Many women including the chairperson of the National Commission for Women, Rekha Sharma, have criticised the actor's comment. Rekha wrote, "This man needs a lesson or two. @TwitterIndia why this person's account still exists?..taking it up with Concerned police. (sic)"

In reaction to Siddharth's comment, Saina told News18, "Ya, I’m not sure what he meant. I used to like him as an actor but this was not nice. He can express himself with better words but I guess it’s Twitter and you remain noticed with such words and comments."
