Tobias Menzies to headline Manhunt

Tobias Menzies, best known for his role in The Crown, will be playing the lead role in Manhunt, a limited series that will explore the assassination of former American President Abraham Lincoln and its aftermath. The series is based on James Swanson's best-selling novel, Manhunt: The 12-Day Chase for Lincoln’s Killer, with Menzies essaying the role of Edwin Stanton, Lincoln's war secretary and friend. 

Created by Monica Beletsky, whose credits include Parenthood, The Leftovers, and Fargo, the series will reportedly be a fictional dramatisation of the conspiracies behind the assassination. Carl Franklin, known for his work in Mindhunter will be directing the series.

The series will be produced by Apple Studios in association with Lionsgate, POV Entertainment, Walden Media, and 3 Arts Entertainment.

Menzies' acting credits also include This Way UpOutlander, and Game of Throne
